EU Provided 11 Vehicles to Enhance Civil Protection System in BiH

As part of an EU funded project aiming to support and enhance the work of the civil protection system in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 11 new 4×4 vehicles, worth over 250,000 euro were delivered today to the civil protection administrations of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska.

The vehicles were procured through the project “Supply of Civil Protection equipment to enhance the responsiveness and resilience of the civil protection system in BiH”.  Five vehicles were handed over to the Federal Administration of Civil Protection of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and six to the Administration of Civil Protection of Republika Srpska.

Most of the time, protection and rescue teams work in the field, in difficult terrain and conditions. The new vehicles will contribute to improvement of the overall mobility and rescue capacities of civil protection teams in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and will be used to transport the civil protection administration’ staff, civil protection equipment, rescue dogs, and to facilitate other field activities.

The Civil Protection renders assistance to citizens in cases of disasters and other accidents, thus it is necessary it disposes of specialized equipment. To that end, the European Union has provided 1 million euro to purchase new civil protection equipment, including new vehicles provided today, which will be delivered to civil protection administrations in Bosnia and Herzegovina by the end of the year.
