An award ceremony for journalists participating in a competition for stories on topics related to Compact for Growth and Jobs was held today in the Ars Aevi Museum in Sarajevo.
The competition was launched last December during the visit of HR/VP Mogherini and Commissioner Hahn to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and was supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy and the Office of the EUSR.
More than 40 media pieces were submitted for the competition featuring stories on employment taxes, labour regulation, business climate and social welfare system. The winning journalists are:
1. Prize: Kenan Kavazović, BH Radio1
2. Prize: Dejan Petrović, BHT1
3. Prize: Mirna Duhaček, portal Depo
The award ceremony was opened by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Vibeke Lilloe.
Ambassador Lilloe said:
“We are pleased to see that all the journalists have adequately portrayed a good atmosphere that is surrounding the Compact for Growth and Jobs trying at the same time to present the challenges BiH may face in implementation of the socio economic reforms. We hope that this Competition has contributed to a new awareness among all the journalists in regard to covering the complexity of socio economic topics.”
A Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to FTV for their continued coverage of the Compact-related issues, while journalist Elma Kazagić (FTV) was awarded with a special certificate recognising her innovative and investigative approach in reporting on corruption.
The first Compact-related award ceremony was held in Banja Luka in March, while the third and last one will take place in Mostar on 15 June.
