Better health protection for BiH citizen through the EU project: Public Health Reform II in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Presentation of the EU funded project “Public Health Reform II in Bosnia and Herzegovina” was held on 6 March 2012 in Sarajevo.

The presentation and the subsequent meeting mark the beginning of the project, where the participants had the opportunity to summarise the project, its objectives and expected results. Participants discussed their expectations, suggestions and individual involvement into the project activities.

Head of Social Development, Civil Society and Cross Border Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to BiH Natalia Dianiskova stated: “This project will provide better protection of citizens against communicable diseases through an effective monitoring and evaluation system. The project is very important for EU integration because it will contribute to development of Early Warning System in BiH, it will do piloting of European health interview survey and introduce in use data related to the National Health Accounts according to EUROSTAT requirements.”

The meeting was also attended by BiH Minister of Civil Affairs Mr. Sredoje Nović, who in his speech emphasized the need of these types of projects for the benefits of health protection services provided to BiH citizens.

The project is financed by the European Union from the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA 2011) to the tune of 1.200,000 Eur. The primary beneficiary of the project is the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs, Sector for Health. Final beneficiaries of this project will be medical workers in health institutions and citizens of BiH. Consortium consisting of CEEN Economic Project & Policy GmbH (CEEN) from Austria together with Diadikasia Consultanting Services S.A from Greece is providing consultancy services.
