First workshop of EU project to Support Tourism Industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The EU funded project “Technical Assistance to Support Tourism Industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina” organised the first workshop in series of those to target improvements in tourism product development and promotion, in Sarajevo on Wednesday, 29 February 2012.

More than 50 participants from public, civil society and private sector attended this Workshop which objective was to present the data collected on the existing tourism resources and services in Bosnia and Herzegovina.  Participants had the opportunity to discuss presented information and discuss opportunities for further improvements of the tourism sector product development and marketing.  

Implementation of all the planned activities under «Marketing and Promotion» project component will lead towards design and implementation of a harmonised framework for marketing BiH as an attractive and versatile tourism destination at the international level.

In addition to the workshop, the project organized the first media brunch that took place in Hotel “Bosnia”, Sarajevo, on Wednesday, 7 March 2012 .

The primary purpose of the event was to update the BiH media on the project activities and planned activities over the coming months, as well as to discuss and agree on the project communication tools.

The project “Technical Assistance to Support Tourism Industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is funded by the European Union through the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) in the amount of 1.9 million Euro. The Project direct beneficiaries are: Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ministry of Trade and Tourism of Republika Srpska, Ministry of Environment and Tourism of the Federation of BiH and Brcko District Government.
