Deadline for Entries to ‘Best EU Integration Journalist of the Year’ Award Extended to 24th April 2012

‘Best EUI Journalist of the Year’ Award was launched in December 2011 by the BiH Directorate for European Integration (DEI) in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina/EU Special Representative. The Award symbolises recognition of the contributions made by journalists to the promotion of EU Integration issues.

Originally set for 01 April 2012, the deadline for entries is now extended to 24 April, due to numerous enquiries.

The competition is open to all journalists in Bosnia and Herzegovina whether they are employed by a media company or are freelance. There are three Award categories – Broadcast, online/ digital and written media. The prize will be a four day trip to Brussels to visit European institutions and media services.

Each candidate journalist should submit a portfolio which contains  two items which they cosider to represent their best work. The work can be submitted on DVD, CD, USB or in hard copy.

A panel of judges, being well-respected and high ranking journalists themselves alongside representatives of the Directorate for European Integration of BiH and of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH/EU Special Representative, will select the winners in the three categories.

The award is the four-day trip to Brussels, to visit EU institutions and media services.

The  winners will be judged on the best content  of their work produced. Reporting content will be judged on how well a journalist reports on different aspects of EU Integration developments.There are no set issues to report on, the precondition being EUI relevance, but overall work of the journalist will be taken into consideration – methodology applied, in-depth analysis and investigation, presentation and given context.
