On the occasion of completion of works on the reconstruction of selected structures of cultural and historical heritage within the project “ARCH- Stolac: Heritage as a bridge between communities, reconstruction of architectural heritage in Stolac – Renovation and development of the war- torn community,” a ceremony was held in Stolac on 30 October.

This project was funded by the EU with 1.5 million Euros and is implemented by the FBiH Ministry of Culture and Sports. Four types of structures were reconstructed by the project: the Stolac old town, the bridges on the Bregava River, the mills on the Bregava River, and Saric House.

The ceremony was addressed by Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to BiH, Renzo Daviddi, FBiH Minister of Culture and Sport Salmir Kaplan and Mayor of Stolac, Stjepan Boskovic.

Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to BiH Renzo Daviddi underlined that the EU was proud to be part of the process of reconstructing the impressive cultural and historical sites in Stolac. I hope that the great results we see in Stolac today will be a reminder to politicians that they should be putting aside political disagreements and focusing their collective energy instead on the country’s European future,” he stated.

FBiH Minister of Culture and Sport Salmir Kaplan stressed the importance of this project for citizens of Stolac. ”This is the largest project implemented in Stolac after the war, and it is extremely important because it restores and erases the traces of war, and re-establishes trust between all peoples who live here”, he said. Mayor Stjepan Boskovic expressed satisfaction with the completion of the project and added that the project has managed to unite the citizens of Stolac.
