Lesjak: Reducing the power of criminals by striking their finances

Interview by Karl Lesjak, Team Leader of the EU Support to Law Enforcement Project, with the daily ‘Dnevni List’

Speaking in Dnevni List, Karl Lesjak said that seizure of illegally gained assets is the most effective weapon against criminals. The interview was given following the signing of the Protocol on establishment of the contact point for collaboration with the European Police College (CEPOL).

The objective of the Project is to help BiH meet the EU standards of the rule of law, in particular Chapter 23 (Judiciary and Fundamental Rights) and Chapter 24 (Justice, Freedom, and Security). The focus is on assisting law enforcement bodies to improve their capacities and capabilities in the fight against organised crime and corruption and to enhance prosecutorial and international operational cooperation.
