Bosnia and Herzegovina included in the MeteoAlarm system

As of today, Bosnia and Herzegovina is included in the official web page of the MeteoAlarm. MeteoAlarm is a system which gives timely warnings about potentially dangerous weather conditions for 650 regions for 12 different conditions issued by hydro-meteorological services from 34 European countries.

By implementing the project “Building Resilience to Disasters in the Western Balkans and Turkey“, The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) and World Meteorological Organization (WMO) provided the funds for BiH to get involved in the MeteoAlarm project. Apart from BiH, the project includes Albania, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey.

The FBiH Hydro-meteorological Institute Sarajevo and the RS Hydro-meteorological Institute Banja Luka will officially start their activities in MeteoAlarm on February 19 2014. These two institutes have completed all technical assumptions necessary for MeteoAlarm.
