Schwarz-Schilling Calls for Rapid Adoption of Legislation Required for SAA Signature

The High Representative and European Union Special Representative, Christian Schwarz-Schilling, today called on the House of Representatives of Bosnia Herzegovina to work on the rapid adoption of laws required for the signing of Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the European Union.

He made this appeal during a meeting with the newly appointed Collegium of the House of Representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The new parliament has an ambitious legislative agenda. This is in part a consequence of the fact that none of the priority legislation that I listed in my address to the previous parliament in May 2006 was passed”, Christian Schwarz-Schilling said.

“I expect the new parliament to be getting down to work rapidly to make up for lost time and to focus on passing legislation that contributes to meeting the requirements for Bosnia and Herzegovina to be able to sign a Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the European Union”, he added.

The meeting with the Collegium was also an opportunity to discuss the process of government formation, OHR transition and the question of constitutional reform.

The Collegium of the House of Representatives consists of the Speaker of the House, Beriz Belkic, and his two Deputies, Milorad Zivkovic and Niko Lozancic.
