OHR Welcomes FBiH Progress On Feasibility Study
Requirements

The Federation House of Representatives Harmonisation Committee yesterday
adopted a key piece of legislation required by BiH’s Feasibility Study.

The Electricity Law clears the way for the next stage of deregulating the
electricity sector. This follows the adoption last week of a BiH Electricity
Action Plan, which makes substancial progress on a key Feasibility Study
requirement.

Electricity liberalisation will introduce competition to the utilities sector
and by doing so is likely to result in lower tariffs for businesses and
households and higher foreign exchange earnings for BiH, which is one of only
two exporters of electricity in the region.

This substantial legislative progress on a Feasibility Study requirement is
an indication of how the Government and Parliament can work together on key
strategic reforms. We expect that the FBiH House of People Harmonisation
Committee will move this legislation forward rapidly.
