On 22 January 2014, the closing ceremony of a two year long EU funded police assistance twinning project with a budget of 1.2 mn Euros funded from IPA 2008, was held in Sarajevo. On 15 January, a Contract for the reconstruction of the wastewater treatment plant in Butila was signed in Sarajevo. The project's total value is around 26 mn Euro and is funded by a 13 million EU grant from IPA funds and a World bank loan.
European Parliament election will be held between 22 and 25 May 2014
Elections to the European Parliament will be held in all EU member states between 22 and 25 May 2014, as decided by the Council of the EU. The 2014 elections are being held in late May instead of early June, as had been the case in the past, in order to provide more time for the election of a president of the European Commission.
EU awards 575 mn Euro to mid-career academic researchers
The European Research Council (ERC) has selected 312 top scientists in its first Consolidator Grant competition. This new funding will enable the researchers to consolidate their own teams and to further develop their best ideas.
