Ambassador Peter Sørensen, Head of the EU Delegation to BiH/EUSR
Peter Ingemann Moesgaard Sørensen was appointed by EU High Representative/EC Vice-President Catherine Ashton as the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH and by the decision of the Council of the EU of 18 July 2011 as the European Union Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Prior to this appointment, Ambassador Sørensen was Head of EU Delegation to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. He also served as Personal Representative of the EU High Representative to Serbia.
In his working career, Ambassador Sørensen served throughout the region. He worked as Deputy Head of UNMIK EU Pillar IV & Director of the European Office in Pristina; Senior Adviser to the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General and Head of UNMIK EU Pillar IV; Political Adviser to the United Nations Special Envoy for the Balkans; Head of Political Affairs in OSCE Mission to Croatia; Legal Adviser in Office of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina and he was part of European Community Monitoring Mission in Sarajevo.
Peter Sorensen was born in 1967. He is Danish. He graduated from Aarhus University in Denmark and holds a Masters degree in law. He speaks in English, German and French and has good knowledge of the languages spoken in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ambassador Sorensen is married with two children.
