EEAS Managing Director Angelina Eichhorst urges to resume dialogue, find a resolution to the current political crisis and focus on reforms in phone calls with BiH political leaders

European External Action Service Managing Director Europe Angelina Eichhorst held phone calls with political leaders Milorad Dodik, Bakir Izetbegović and Dragan Čović, as well as with BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Bisera Turković.

She raised the EU’s strong concerns regarding the political situation in BiH and urged the leaders to work with more energy and focus, together on a solution, through dialogue, compromise and a full return to the BiH institutions. She stressed the need to put an end to divisive and provocative rhetoric and actions. This includes questioning the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

Managing Director Ms Eichhorst reiterated the EU’s unequivocal commitment and support for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU perspective as a single, united and sovereign country, underlining that an early agreement on constitutional and electoral reform is of utmost importance.

The calls come ahead of her visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina together with US Special Envoy for Electoral Reform in BiH, Matthew Palmer on 27-30 October.
