Digitalisation as a basis for increasing competitiveness of BiH companies

About 25 selected companies and 12 development agencies and business development service providers will receive support in the selection and development of adequate proposals for digitalisation within the framework of the EU ProLocal project. This project, which aims to support the economic development in BIH, is funded by the European Union and the Government of Germany and implemented by GIZ.

A round table with business executives and the results of the digitalisation survey among domestic companies with a focus on exports are presented was held today in Zenica. Similar events, held in Banja Luka and Mostar, gave the opportunity to more than 80 representatives of companies and development agencies in BiH to analyse the needs and discus the adequate digitalisation models.

As pointed out at this forum, some of the challenges that small and medium enterprises are facing in the process of digitalisation include segments of production and storage, as well as management of human and material resources. In addition, there is no link between sales, purchasing and production, while digital communication with customers and suppliers is at a very early stage of development or does not exist.

The results of a research and proposals from the forums will be published in June 2019 in the study “Use of information-communication technologies as an impetus to competitiveness of the BiH companies”.

EU ProLocal is funded by the European Union with ˘€9 million and the Federal Government of Germany with an additional €4 million.
