Bosnia and Herzegovina poultry meat producers will soon be able to export to the EU

On 25 January the EU Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed authorised amending the relevant EU legislation to include Bosnia and Herzegovina into the list of third countries from which certain poultry commodities may be imported into or transit through the Union. The amendment will enter into force on the date of its publication in the Official Journal of the EU.

Within efforts of increasing Bosnia and Herzegovina’s potential for export to the EU, the EU audits in poultry sector were carried out in October 2017 and June 2018. The first one evaluated whether the official public health controls systems in the country provided guarantees that the production of poultry meat were in line with the EU legislation. The latter assessed the official animal health controls related to poultry meat intended for export to the EU.
