Informative posters for better agricultural practice

The BiH Plum Marketing Association in cooperation with the EU ProLocal Programme developed a new informative poster titled „Good Agricultural Practice of Fruit Harvesting.” The Poster presents a lot of practical advice for famers about implementation of the necessary hygiene measures during the harvest, packaging and transport of the harvested fruits, as well as about delivery of the high-quality products.

The purpose of this advice is to remedy mistakes spotted during the harvest that undermine the fulfilment of the basic hygiene requirements of international agricultural standards, especially the GLOBALG.A.P. standard. Remedying of the mistakes increases the quantity of top-quality harvested fruit, exclusively sought in the challenging and demanding markets, which eventually earns a positive financial impact.

Ibrahim Latifović, owner of Farming Cooperative „Late “from Gradačac, emphasized their support to any activity which leads to improvement of the plum production process. „The presentation of this poster is the right step in this direction. Thanking to the pieces of advice collected at one spot, we are able to remind our cooperants in a simple manner how to make and keep the plums we export, the highest quality plums”, concluded Latifović. Cooperative „Late“ is one of the seven members of the BiH Plum Marketing Association. It brings together more than 150 fruit producers in the Gradačac Municipality.

The new poster is the fifth in a series of the informative posters that were presented to farmers earlier with the purpose of sharing information and educating people about the topics relevant for the strengthening of the BiH plum value chain. Accordingly, posters encompass quality criteria for the competitive plum, economic potential of this chain in BiH and the benefits obtained with grouping.

The BiH Plum Marketing Association, bringing together seven leading producers and exporters of plum in BiH, is an example of a successful grouping in the agribusiness sector. The EU ProLocal has supported establishing of this Association, development of its operative plan of action, visual identity of BiH plum and the marketing strategy.
