E4U in Mostar: Students believe they can contribute to positive change in BiH

EU Ambassador in Bosnia and Herzegovina Lars Gunnar-Wigemark spoke to students of the faculties of economy from the University of Mostar and the University „Džemal Bijedić“ about the perspective of the youth in the country, at a presentation of the project ‘EU for You – E4U’.

Students had many questions for the Ambassador and expressed their opinions on ways to improve the situation in the country, conditions that BiH needs to meet in order to join to the EU, as well as opportunities for professional training and internships through different EU programmes.

Ambassador Wigemark emphasised that the young people are the key driving force of positive changes in the country. „We want to hear the students and how they see their country and their lives, as well as their thoughts with regard to the European Union. I have to admit that I am impressed with the quality, ambitions and the positive attitudes of students, despite an often negative atmosphere in the country itself,“ Wigemark said.

Most of the students present voted with ‘thumbs-up’ for staying in BiH and expressed their belief that they can contribute to positive changes in the future.

E4U Info Days are being organised at 14 public universities and faculties in BiH. Within the EU-led project, academic mentors and experts will provide undergraduate students assistance in their work on implementation of public information campaigns through which they will present the perception of youth on socio-economic reforms, particularly in the domains of education, employment and entrepreneurship.

Info Days have so far been organised in Sarajevo, Zenica, Banja Luka, Bihać, Mostar and Pale, and the following events will be held in Bijeljina and Tuzla.
