The Local Government Initiative (LGI) was launched today in Sarajevo.

The Initiative is a consultation process with local governments and other stakeholders in BiH to seek to identify common challenges with local government operations that hamper the efficient provision of services to the public. It will contribute to a much needed discussion about the need for reforms.

The Initiative is supported by the European Union, USAID and the Embassy of Switzerland.  It is led by a group of international experts who will tour Bosnia and Herzegovina to consult widely with all stakeholders and hear their opinions on the main challenges confronting local government in BiH.

The opening event will be followed by 15 regional consultations.

The LGI’s findings are expected to be presented in late spring 2018.
