With the help of the European Union members of the Federation of the Republika Srpska Trade Unions acquired new trade union activity knowledge

In the past two months, with the technical support of the project “Support to Social Partners in Social Dialogue”, funded by the European Union (EU) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), a series of capacity building workshops were organized for the members of the Union of Trade Unions of Republika Srpska (SSRS).

With the help of the experts from the Union of Trade Unions of Republika Srpska (SSRS), as well as the experts of the project “Support to Social Partners in Social Dialogue”, members of the Union of Trade Unions of Republika Srpska (SSRS) had a unique opportunity to acquire new knowledge on trade union organization and trade unionism, collective bargaining, labor and employment regulations, as well as the basics of internal and external communication.

The purpose of these workshops was to strengthen the capacities of trade union members and to provide them with an opportunity to gain new knowledge in the field of trade unionism. I am convinced that our members, relying on their strengthened capacities, will provide better protection for workers, union members,” said Ranka Mišić, President of the Union of Trade Unions of Republika Srpska (SSRS).

About 400 members of the Union of Trade Unions of Republika Srpska (SSRS), from the real and public sectors, members also of different sectoral trade unions that are members of SSRS participated in these workshops. Workshops were held at trade union centers of the Union of Trade Unions of Republika Srpska (SSRS): Bijeljina, Derventa, Gradiška, Istočno Sarajevo, Mrkonjić Grad, Prijedor, Prnjavor, Teslić, Trebinje, Višegrad and Zvornik.

These workshops were one of the project activities that we carried out within the project “Support to Social Partners in Social Dialogue “. We are pleased that we were able to assist in building the capacity of the members of the Union of Trade Unions of Republika Srpska (SSRS) and that we had the opportunity to share the experiences from EU Member States and countries in the region“, said Jelena Katić, the Project Team Leader.

We recall that the project “Support to Social Partners in Social Dialogue”, funded by the European Union in BiH in the amount of 482,000 euros, aims to support the improvement of social dialogue in BiH. The project began to be implemented in January 2016 and will last until January 2018.
