Ambassador Wigemark visits Bihać

Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark visited the construction site of the new Cantonal Court building with Una-Sana Cantonal Minister of Justice Nikola Findrik during his visit to Bihać on 19 May.

The construction works are funded by the European Union with over 1.6 million euro. Ambassador Wigemark stated that over the last 15 years the EU has supported the justice sector in BiH with over 50 million euro, and that the overall goal of this support is to strengthen the independence, impartiality, professionalism and efficiency of the judicial and prosecutorial systems in line with European standards, and to ensure adequate services for BiH citizens.

In discussions with the Chair of the Bihac City Council Davor Zupa, Ambassador Wigemark touched upon local development priorities and socio-economic reforms.

Ambasador Wigemark held a lecture at the University of Bihać on the topic of European integration process in the context of youth, where he addressed the students and underlined the role youth played in implementating reforms and driving the country closer to the EU. Wigemark also met with Rector of the University of Bihać, Dr Fadil Islamović.

Together with German Ambassador to BiH Christiane Hohman, Ambassador Wigemark also visited the Meggle Dairy Factory and met with the director Kemal Hrnjic. On this occasion, it was emphasised that meeting EU standards in the milk sector is important for the quality of products available to BiH consumers.
