Final Presentation of “CB-GREEN; Cross-Border-Green, Renewable and Energy Efficiency Network” Project Held

On Friday, 24 March 2017, final presentation of the Cross-Border-Green, Renewable and Energy Efficiency Network project was held in Neum. As part of the presentation, representatives of local self-governments, public institutions and the media in attendance were addressed by the donor representative, Massimo Mina, Head of Operations Section for Social Development, Civil Society and Cross Border Co-operation at the EU Delegation to BiH, and representatives of project partners. Main results of the two-year project were presented, as well as the long-term effects brought on by the project implementation, which began on 1 April 2015.

The Cross-Border-Green, Renewable and Energy Efficiency Network project was financed by the EU under the IPA Cross-Border Programme Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina 2007-2013. The project was successfully implemented by 6 partner organisations operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia. Main project implementer in Bosnia and Herzegovina was the Neum Municipality with the Regional Development Agency REDAH and the City of Mostar as partners. Project implementer in the Republic of Croatia was the City of Zadar with ZADRA NOVA Agency and the EKO-ZADAR Association as partners.

The goal of the project was to protect and preserve environment, and encourage the use of sustainable sources of energy in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and Zadar County through joint activities and campaigns for raising awareness on energy efficiency (EE) and use of renewables-based systems in the public sector.

As part of the project, a number of activities were implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina:

1) Action plans/programmes for energy efficiency were drawn up for the Neum Municipality and the City of Mostar

2) Network of project ideas on energy efficiency and renewables in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton was set up

3) EE teams and EE info-points were established in the Neum Municipality and the City of Mostar

4) New EE technologies were implemented in Neum Municipality by replacing and installing new lighting

5)  Training workshops were held for public administrations

6) Promotional campaign to raise awareness of energy efficiency, renewables and environment protection was organised.
