Chargé d’Affaires of the EU Delegation to BiH Khaldoun Sinno met with the Estonian Deputy Minister for EU Affairs Matti Maasikas in Sarajevo today, ahead of Estonia’s upcoming presidency of the Council of the EU later this year.

Deputy Minister Maasikas introduced the four main priorities of the Estonian presidency: open and innovative European economy, safe and secure Europe, digital Europe and free movement of data, and inclusive and sustainable Europe. Massikas further underlined Estonia’s support to the enlargement process.

Interlocutors emphasised the importance of the steps Bosnia and Herzegovina has taken on its EU path, particularly in view of the Reform Agenda. The meeting was also attended by the non-resident Estonian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Daniel Erik Schaer.

Estonia will be holding the presidency of the EU Council for the first time in the second half of 2017, taking over from Malta.
