Second phase of development of grant applications begins under the EU-funded Local Employment Partnerships project

Following the first phase of administrative and technical evaluation of 157 received grant application proposals and the selection of 48 highest ranked ones, staff of the Support to Local Employment Partnerships in Bosnia and Herzegovina (LEP) Project will today in Tuzla hold the first in a series of 14 training sessions for the 48 potential partnerships to provide them with guidance and enable them to develop full grant applications, on equal basis, and enter the second round of the evaluation of applications.

Under the EUR 4 million worth EU-funded and ILO-implemented LEP project, EUR 3 million will be disbursed in direct grants to Local Employment Partnerships which include local governments, public employment services, education institutions, employers and non-governmental organizations.

The grants in the amount of EUR 150,000 to 200,000 will be utilised to help partnerships institutionalise their co-operation, increase employability and create new jobs, paying special attention to women, youth, minorities, returnees, internally displaced persons, and hard-to-employ groups in flood-affected communities in particular.

Training sessions to be held in Banja Luka, Bijeljina, Bihać, Mostar, Sarajevo and Tuzla from 5 to 23 December will include modules on design and technical content of the applications.

The ILO will guide Local Employment Partnerships throughout the project implementation and will support them through the provision of expertise in reforming labour markets and establishing sustainable and partnership driven local initiatives capable of implementing active labour market measures that lead to greater employability and creation of decent jobs.

Support to Local Employment Partnerships in Bosnia and Herzegovina project is part of the EU-funded Programme for Local Development and Employment worth EUR 19 million.
