Ambassador Wigemark plants tree in Ambassadors’ Alley

Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, planted today a linden tree in the Ambassadors’ Alley, at the popular pedestrian stretch Dariva. This is the 167th tree to be planted in the Ambassadors’ Alley by an international representative in BiH.

“This is an opportunity to remind ourselves of the importance of environmental awareness, which unfortunately does not receive enough attention in this country, or in general. Trees help us breathe cleaner air, and they also enrich the soil and protect it from environmental disasters such as the flooding you had here recently,” Ambassador Wigemark said on this occasion.

The Ambassadors’ Alley is a project established in 2002 by the Municipality Stari Grad with the aim to promote friendship between BiH and countries and international organizations whose Ambassadors served in BiH.

The Alley project also promotes environmental awareness and necessity to protect the unique natural environment of the Dariva pedestrian stretch, which is only few hundred metres away from Sarajevo’s old town.
