Journalists from EU countries visit BiH

Deputy Head of EU Delegation to BiH Khaldoun Sinno welcomed a group of 14 journalists from major media houses in the EU countries at the start of their visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 16 November. The visit was organised by the EU Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, and aimed to introduce the journalists with the work of the European Union in the enlargement countries.

You came at a very important moment for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Only last week, we saw the presentation of the 2016 Country Report, certainly a major moment for setting the context for the next steps in the country’s EU path. There has been some good progress, and BiH managed to deliver convincingly on the EU requirements,” Sinno said. He noted the positive developments, and said the country has been back on EU track in the past period, particularly since the submission of the membership application.

The journalists were also briefed about the EU communication activities. The EU Delegation/EUSR Spokesperson Jamila Milovic Halilovic spoke of the key EU outreach projects targeting youth, business sector and rural communities, and presented a special TV show “See you in the EU” dedicated to real life inspirational stories from across the country.

On 17 November, the journalists were also welcomed by the Chair of the BiH Council of Ministers Dr Denis Zvizdic. During their 3-day stay, they met with local stakeholders, such as media and civil society representatives, and the local beneficiaries of the EU financial assistance.
