EU funds the construction of the new Cantonal Court in Bihać

The works on the construction of the new building of the Cantonal Court in Bihać were officially announced at today’s meeting which was attended by the representatives of the Court, authorities of Una-Sana Canton and EU Delegation to BiH. The EU provided over EUR 1.615.000 for the construction of the new building with aim to improve the working conditions of the court which is in charge of processing war crimes and other complex criminal cases committed in the area of the Una-Sana Canton.

Cantonal Court is currently located in the same building with the Municipal Court and therefore lacking the courtrooms, archive, offices and common space. The President of the Cantonal Court Fata Nadarević and Minister of Justice and Administration of Una-Sana Canton Nikola Findrik, stressed that thanks to the EU assistance, judicial institutions in Bihać will finally have adequate working conditions for employees and will be able to provide better space and services to citizens.

The completion of the works is expected in July next year. The construction company “Prijedorputevi 2” is implementing the works.

This project is part of a wider package of EU funding for rehabilitation of courts and prosecutors’ offices throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a support to enhancement of the rule of law in the country.
