In the visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 21 March 2016, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn called for continued reform efforts to further deliver on the necessary steps towards the European Union.

He met the key state and entity officials including the BiH Presidency Chairman Bakir Izetbegović and member of the Presidency Dragan Čović, Foreign Minister Igor Crnadak, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers Denis Zvizdić, the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fadil Novalić, and the Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Željka Cvijanović.

In light of the recent submission of EU membership application, Commissioner Hahn discussed the latest developments and efforts of the country authorities’ in moving forward on the EU path. Underlining that good and quick progress was in the joint interest of BiH and the EU, he particularly focused on the implementation of the Reform Agenda, the ongoing negotiations about the adaptation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement, and the need to ensure an efficient and effective coordination mechanism on EU-related matters. He also stressed the importance of publishing of the census results, as well as the well-functioning rule of law as essentials in advancing the EU integration path of BiH.
