Ambassador Wigemark and EU Member States’ Ambassadors meet with representatives of international cultural institutions in BiH

The Head of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH and EU Special Representative in BiH Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark and Ambassadors of EU Member States met today in Sarajevo with Amila Ramovic, Edina Papo, Mirsad Purivatra and Haris Pasovic, representatives of prominent international cultural organisations in BiH, and discussed the current situation and challenges in the area of culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Cultural projects implemented by organizations like Ars Aevi, the Ballet Fest, the Sarajevo Film Festival and the East West Center, play a crucial role in promoting European values, tolerance, diversity, integration and reconciliation, it was underlined during the meeting.

Through the ‘Creative Europe’ programme and other initiatives, the EU and its Member States have been long-standing supporters of the preservation and promotion of cultural institutions and heritage in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The EU will continue its engagement with the cultural institutions and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to promote important cultural events and to preserve the country’s heritage for the benefit of all people of BiH and Europe as a whole.
