The Office of the EU Special Representative supported Mediteran Film Festival

As part of its sponsorship activities, the Office of the Special Representative of the European Union in BiH (EUSR) supported this year’s Mediteran Film Festival – a documentary film festival held from 26 to 29 August in Široki Brijeg.

“Our Festival features the very best of world cinematography, and we are particularly proud of our programme featuring domestic filmmakers, because this is proof that the Festival is not just an August event, but that films are made here throughout the year,” said Tomislav Topić, director of one of the oldest and most important documentary film festivals in BiH and the region, and further pointed out how this year, film workshops were held in Široki Brijeg in cooperation with filmmakers from the US.

Seventeen documentary films were shown as part of the Festival’s competition programme. Apart from films in competition, this year’s Festival screened five films in the ‘Domestic Authors’ programme, ten animated films from the associated NAFF Festival held in Neum, two feature films in cooperation with Operation Cinema in the ‘Open Air Cinema’ programme, and two documentary films in cooperation with this year’s partner, the HBO film network.

“Six members of the jury awarded the Grand Prix MFF Projector for the best feature documentary, and MMF Projector for the best short documentary, while the third award was traditionally the audience award,” said Topić.

Apart from many films, the Mediterranean Film Festival also brought a relaxed atmosphere and good fun with film quizzes, workshops, awards and parties that make this Festival a must-see cultural destination in the region.
