Commissioner Štefan Füle visited BiH on 6 June

“This is not a time for political games in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is a time for politicians to find a consensus based on the European perspective.“ This message was a highlight of the visit of the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle, to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday, 6 June.

During this visit, Commissioner Füle met with the BiH Presidency in Sarajevo and with the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik in Banja Luka.

In Banja Luka, Commissioner launched the EU-BiH SAA Structured Dialogue on Justice whose main objective is the consolidation of the rule of law and the establishment of an independent, effective, impartial and accountable judicial system across the whole country to the benefit of every citizen. The BiH Delegation was led by the Minister of Justice, Bariša Čolak, while the representatives of the relevant authorities at the state, entities and the Brčko District level attended the meeting.

Various judicial issues including the set up, competences and working methods of judicial institutions were discussed with a view to making the whole system in Bosnia and Herzegovina compatible with European standards and rules.  Subsequent meetings will follow.
