Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Rome

On the 25th of March  2007,  Europe celebrated the 50th  anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, which marked the beginning of what became the European Union we know today. The EU institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina: EU Presidency, EU Special Representative, EUFOR, EUPM and the European Commission Delegation organised a variety of celebrations in Sarajevo.

The office of the EU Special Representative painted a Sarajevo tram in the colours and logo of the 50th anniversary. The German Ambassador, his Excellency Michael Schmunk; the EU Special Representative, Dr. Christian Schwartz-Schilling; the EUFOR Commander, Rear-Admiral Hans-Jochen Witthauer; the Head of the EUPM, General Vincenzo Coppola; and the Head of the European Commission Delegation, Ambassador Dimitris Kourkoulas, rode the tram to a concert held in honour of the Anniversary.

The members of the the BiH Presidency – Mr. Nebojsa Radmanovic, Mr. Zeljko Komsic and Mr. Haris Silajdzic – and the Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers, Mr. Nikola Spiric, were among the guests at the concert.
