EUSR supports Kid’s Fest 2015

The Office of the EU Special Representative in BiH supported this year’s festival for children ‘Kid’s Festival’. The Festival is taking place in Sarajevo for the 12th consecutive year and is the largest festival for children in the country.

Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, said:

“We are delighted to be part of Kid’s Fest once again. Tens of thousands of children and their parents who attend the festival every year are the best confirmation of this event’s significance. I wish for the organizers to have the best festival so far and for children to enjoy four days of fun and learning tailored specially only for them”.

Director of the Kid’s Fest, Ms. Susanne Prahl, said:

“We are happy that the European Union identified the Kid’s Festival since its first steps as a major tool in the political landscape where concrete efforts of unifying the country became a reality for tens of thousands of young people. The EU recognized the Kid’s Festival as a beneficiary for civil society, as a platform of cultural diversity and helped us to foster a new brand in the world with the ambitious aim to build peace in the minds of people, starting with children as cohesive element in bonding together divergent parties of society.”

Kid’s Fest 2015 has gained the prestigious Patronage of UNESCO.

The official kick-off the Kid’s Fest 2015 took place on 12 June with a children’s parade through downtown Sarajevo starting at Bascarsija Old Town.
