Winners of the photo competition “My Neighbourhood” were presented with their prizes at a reception held at the Delegation of the European Union to BiH on 13 February 2012. The prizes, two good quality digital photo cameras, were presented by Ambassador Peter Sørensen, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH/ EU Special Representative and Mrs Nevenka Savic, Director of the BiH Directorate for European integration (DEI).
The three winners are:
1. Emir Vražalica from Sarajevo;
2. Nikolina Tuka from Sarajevo;
3. Competition winner by Facebook votes – Jovana Vujasinović from Banja Luka
When handing the prizes to the winners, Ambassador Sorensen said: “The entries to the photo competition, ‘My Neighbourhood’, showed the kind of creative talent which makes BiH so steeped in culture. It is good to see this is continued by today’s young people and to see that they are enthusiastic about EU integration.”
Expressing her congratulations to the winners, the Director of the DEI, Mrs Nevenka Savic said:“I support this idea very much. Through our project EU Awareness II, we were fully involved. It is always a great pleasure to work with young people and to hear, and see, their ideas on EU integration which are very positive.”
“I studied tourism and ecology and I think there are many opportunities in our country for this. The photo competition allowed me to show what young people are thinking in BiH – that we are creative and are looking to the future”, said Emir Vrazalica, when receiving his prize.
Nikolina Tuka commented that, “This photo competition has been a great opportunity to make young people think about their ‘neighbourhood’ and what EU integration means. The inclusion of the photos in a calendar means that our ideas will continue to be seen throughout the year.”
One of the cameras was kindly donated by Blicdruk company, whose representative, Mr Muhamed Hrlovic, said on the occasion: “We are very pleased to have been involved in this competition. Europe is very close for young people – they travel, they study abroad, they use the internet to communicate with Europe and the world.”
Facebook winner, Jovana Vujasinovic, from Banja Luka, could not attend the reception, due to heavy winter conditions, but her prize will be delivered to her at the earliest opportunity.
