EU Supports Regional Civil Society

Panel “Facing EU-integration: Visions and challenges for civil society in the context of EU-integration in BiH and the region” was held today at Sarajevo Hotel in Sarajevo. Panel was part of the Western Balkans Civil Society Conference, organised by the America-Bosnia Foundation in cooperation with the Centre for Transatlantic Relations- School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC and funded by the European Union Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Conference was opened yesterday in the premises of the Town Hall of Sarajevo. Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to BiH, Renzo Daviddi, addressed participants stressing support for the committed engagement of regional civil society on the EU related issues. “Civil society is a key partner for the EU and citizens at large in the integration process, not just governments”, Daviddi stated.

Notable civil society representatives from across the Western Balkans region shared their experiences on the EU integration challenges in their respective countries, concluding that EU membership is the final goal for the whole region.
