EU Delegation in BiH and UNICEF visit joint project implemented in the Municipality of Tesanj

Representative of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Head of Operations Section for Social Development, Civil Society and Cross-Border Cooperation, Ms Natalia Dianiskova, and Deputy Representative of UNICEF in BiH, Anne-Claire Dufay, visited the Municipality of Tesanj yesterday.
They met with Mayor of Tesanj, Mr Fuad Sisic, and children workshop on nonviolent conflict prevention and for making short videos.
“The European Union has funded the ‘Project for Enhancing the Social Protection and Inclusion System for Children in BiH (SPIS)’ with four millions euro and we wanted to see on the ground that these funds are usefully spent. Tesanj is an example of good practice so it is my pleasure to be here today, “said Natalia Dianiskova.
Deputy Representative of UNICEF, Anne-Claire Duffay emphasised that Tesanj is an example of good practice adding that she is satisfied with the participation of the other 10 Municipalities in BiH in implementing the joint project and has highlighted the importance of its sustainability.
“In all Municipalities which implement SPIS project, as is the case in Tešanj, Steering Committees were formed comprising of representatives of institutions for the protection of children. What is particularly important is that after the completion of these projects, the Steering Committees are being transformed into the Municipal Commission as a permanent body that is to continue to do what they started through SPIS project, “said Anne-Claire Duffay.
The Mayor of Tesanj, Fuad Sisic, thanked for the visit and expressed his satisfaction that Tesanj is one of the Municipalities where third phase of the project is being implemented.
“Our Municipality gained a lot through this project, we have developed an action plan that defines the most vulnerable groups of children in need of help, and which will be the basis for future child protection policy to which we have paid a lot of attention so far. Through the program, all actors of the child protection are connected into one body that will, I believe, get the support as the future Municipal Commission, “said Mayor Sisic.
This visit is a part of the project “‘Project for Enhancing the Social Protection and Inclusion System for Children in BiH (SPIS)’, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNICEF and Tesanj is one of 21 pilot Municipalities in BiH, in which this project is implemented.
