BiH CoM Chairman and the Energy Community Secretariat and three ministers to discuss BiH’s performance under the Energy Community Treaty

Workshop “Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Energy Community”

On 14 June 2012 at Hotel ‘Vučko’ (Olimpijska 1) in Jahorina, H.E. Mr. Vjekoslav Bevanda, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina,  H.E. Mr. Mirko Sarovic, Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and H.E. Mr Željko Kovačević, Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska, will meet with Mr. Slavtcho Neykov, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat and his team. Mr. Renzo Daviddi, Deputy Head of EU Delegation to BiH, will also take part in these talks. The parties will convene for a whole day Workshop under the title “Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Energy Community”, to discuss the country’s performance in implementing the Treaty establishing the Energy Community.

Bosnia and Herzegovina signed the Energy Community Treaty in October 2005 and overtook thereby the obligation to implement the core EU energy legislation within preset deadlines. In October 2011, the Energy Community Ministerial Council decided to adopt the EU’s third internal energy package. This year the adoption of new EU legislation on renewable energy, statistics and oil stocks are under discussion. When implemented in full, this legal framework paves the way for a stable regulatory and market framework and ensures thereby access to sustainable, secure and competitive energy. It is these challenges and, the planned line of action by Bosnia and Herzegovina, that will be tabled for discussions in Jahorina.

Chairman Bevanda, ministers and Director Neykov will address the press and deliver press statements on the same day at 13:15 hours.
