‘My EU Perspective’ Video Competition Launched

The video competition ‘My EU Perspective’ is launched today by the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina/EU Special Representative (EUD/EUSR). The competition is organised with the support of the EU Awareness II project (EUAII), as part of marking Enlargement Week in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It aims to encourage public debate among citizens on BiH’s EU integration into EU.

Everyone who wants to participate is invited to submit an amateur short video clip giving their view on what they expect from EU membership for their country, how they see the EU and what the advantages are that BiH can bring to the EU as an eventual member state. The competition is open to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with no age limit for entrants. 

The prizes will be as follows:

Winner of the 1st place: 200 €

Winner of the 2nd place: 150 €

Winner by the number of likes on facebook: 100 €

The message sent by the video must be related to the EU integration of BiH and be understandable to the general viewer. Guidance is given in the rules which are available on application or can be downloaded from www.europa.ba, http://www.facebook.com/eutwo.euawareness and http://www.fotografija.ba/.

The panel of judges will comprise of experts in audio – visual production, joined by the representatives from DEI and EUD/EUSR.

The competition will run from 8th to 22nd October 2012 for entries. Voting on facebook will be open until 31 October 2012.

Each candidate should submit one video only. Videos can be work of an individual or a team. The work can be submitted on DVD, CD, USB or send by mail via link.

The winners will be announced at the EUAII Concluding conference to be held on 07 November 2012 in Sarajevo.

“My EU perspective” video competition – RULES

1.      The competition is launched by the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina/EU Special Representative (EUD/EUSR). The competition is organised with the support of the EU Awareness II  project (EUAII), as part of marking Enlargement week in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It aims to encourage public debate among citizens on BiH’s EU integration into EU.

2.      Entry to the competition will be open from 08 – 22 October 2012. The winners will be announced and the prizes handed over at the EUAII Concluding conference to be held on 07 November 2012 in Sarajevo;

3.      There will be first and second place, selected by the judges, and the winner of the Facebook, by the number of likes;

4.      The prizes will be as follows:

1st prize – 200 €

2nd prize – 150 €

Facebook winner – 100€

5.      Each entrant should submit one video only. The items should be submitted on DVD, CD, USB or sent via link;

6.      Videos should be no more than 5 minutes in length;

7.      Entrants must be authors of the videos submitted;

8.      Entries can be work on an individual or team basis. Joint entries of a number of authors per one video will be accepted.

9.      All entrants must be of BiH citizenship.

10.   There is no limit as to the age of the entrants.

11.   Work done under EU reportage sponsored by EU Special Representative office (EUSR) or any other EU project is not eligible for this competitions. Also, videos of inappropriate content will not be taken into consideration and will lead to disqualification.

12.   All video themes must be related to BiH integration in EU and messages to EU member states. Judges are looking for examples of how EU issues are presented in a way that can be understood by the general population; messages video contains can be about BiH road to EU, hopes for EU future of BiH, what they expect and demand from EU membership, questions for EU, or what advantages can BiH offer to EU when it becomes a member.

2012 is European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, therefore videos inspired by this theme are also welcome.

13.   Judging will be performed by experts in audio-visual production, joined by representatives of the Delegation of European union to BiH/ EUSR. To ensure an objective and unitary evaluation of all submitted work, the members of the judges panel will apply unified evaluation grid.
