Availability of EU Macro-financial Assistance Extended by One Year

On 31 October 2012 a decision on extending the availability period of EU macro-financial assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina – made by the European Commission on 29 October 2012 – was published in the official Journal of the European Union and thus entered into force. The decision extends the availability of the financial assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina by one year, i.e. until 7 November 2013.

Following a request by BiH authorities, and upon confirmation that all the conditions for the disbursement of the first tranche have been met by BiH, 50 million Euro would be made available to State and Entity budgets. The total amount of the macro-financial assistance is 100 million Euros. Disbursement of the second tranche will depend on fulfilment of the second tranche conditions, satisfactory progress in implementation of structural reforms and continuation of disbursements under the IMF Stand-by arrangement.
