Promotion of new virtual map of the City of Sarajevo

The new virtual map of the City of Sarajevo and tourist guide booklet were officially promoted on Friday (21 December) in Sarajevo, as part of the project funded by the European Union from IPA funds and co-financed by the City of Sarajevo, Cantonal Ministry of Culture and Sport and FBiH Ministry of Tourism and Environment.

The  goal of the project is to promote information on cultural institutions in Sarajevo and to serve as a tour guide by using the “street view” map available on the project website, enabling all visitors to learn about the city history and to have a virtual  tour, even before coming to Sarajevo.

Director of one of the project partners, the Fund “Mozaik”, Vesna Bajsanski – Agic said that experts from the country and region were engaged in order to provide the desired outcome. She believes that the BiH citizens could not hope for a better future should they wait for someone else to do their job.

Maja Dosenovic of the EU Delegation to BiH said that the EU allocated 300,000 EUR for the project implementation, pointing out that the project showed a promising outcome from the very outset. “The map posted on the website has already received over 20,000 clicks, and we believe it will get even better, with more people deciding to visit Sarajevo and BiH.” She added that new visitors to Sarajevo and BiH are very important since they experience of wonders and cultural heritage of BiH, adding to its unique socio-cultural identity.

Apart form wishing the project a great success in the future, Dosenovic  concluded that it would be useful to organize  a follow up meeting in the  next couple of months and make a review of the entire Project “which could serve as a valuable basis not only for the future of the Project but the overall process.”
