Commenting on the latest consultations between the President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the political parties regarding the Federation government, EUD/EUSR spokesperson Andy McGuffie said:

“The Delegation of the European Union/EUSR welcomes the start of the dialogue between the President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the political parties which constitute the majority in the Federation Parliament, to solve the impasse related to the Federation government.

It is urgent that the Federation gets well-functioning and efficient authorities as soon as possible, which includes the Federation government. It is now the responsibilty of the President of the Federation and the relevant political parties to urgently complete their consultations and the necessary work in this regard, which would enable the Federation authorities to re-focus on EU-related reforms and other economic and political challenges.

We expect the discussions between the President of the Federation and the political parties to be successfully completed within a matter of days.”
