Head of EU Delegation/EU Special Representative Peter Sorensen meets children and staff at Sarajevo Home for Children without Parental Care

The Head of the EU Delegation/European Union Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, visited the Home for Children without Parental Care in Sarajevo on Friday 1 February. The Ambassador met with the Acting Director, Mr. Saudin Đurđević, and delivered a donation of furniture for one of the activity rooms in the Home.

Ambassador Sorensen stated he was glad that the EUD/EUSR, and its staff through their donations, helped the facility that provides care for children. “I am really impressed by the work done here by Mr Đurđević and his committed staff. The children are well taken care of and that there is loads of love and commitment which makes the children feel happy and safe in this place.”

Ambassador Sorensen spent some time with children while touring the Home, exchanging a few words in English with those who were doing their English language homework.

Mr Đurđević, thanked Ambassador Sorensen for the donation and for visiting the Home. He also informed the Ambassador about the activities in the Home and their future plans.

The Home for Children without Parental Care in Sarajevo provides care for children since their birth until they graduate from secondary school. Currently there are 96 children residing at the home, divided into five sections according to their age, from babies to secondary school students.
