EU delegation visits Pale and Jahorina

The Head of the EU Delegation and European Union Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, visited Pale and Jahorina on 13 February, where he met with municipal authorities, students and representatives of the business community.

Ambassador Sorensen stressed the importance of local governance, which is the closest to the citizens: “Local authorities in municipalities have the first hand information on issues that matter to people. Here, we can also see how the assistance the EU has provided influences the life of citizens. This is particularly important for Pale municipality, which has strong potential for developing tourism, not only on Jahorina mountain.” He added that the EU in BiH has since last year organised visits to Kiseljak, Drvar, Bihac, Brcko, Fojnica, Trebinje, Livno and many other towns and municipalities, and plans to continue doing so  to ensure that the opinions of people all across the country are heard.

Slovenian Ambassador, Andrej Grasselli, and Italian Deputy Head of Mission, Stefano Stucci, accompanied HoD/EUSR on this visit. The EU Delegation, led by Ambassador Sorensen, will visit the construction site of the Bijaca border crossing on Thursday 14 February
