Ambassador Sorensen, EU Ambassadors visit future international border crossing Bijaca

The Head of the EU Delegation and European Union Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, visited the construction site of the future Border Crossing Point Bijaca and the construction site of the subsections Bijace-Kravice on 14 Febrauary, where he met with representatives of JP Autocete FBiH d.o.o. Mostar and the Indirect Taxation Authority.

Ambassador Sorensen was accompanied by Czech Ambassador, Tomas Szunyog, Swedish Ambassador Bosse Hedberg, UK Ambassador Nigel Casey and Deputy Head of the French Embassy Francois Legue.

Addressing the media, Ambassador Sorensen stressed that there was no time to waste given Croatia’s likely accession to the EU on 1 July 2013. He pointed out the importance of having the international border crossing Bijaca ready for export and import of goods to the EU by the time Croatia has joined the EU.

Both Director General of Autoceste FBiH, Mr Ensad Karic and Assistant Director of Indirect Taxation Authority Mr Hajrudin Lagumdzija assured Ambassador Sorensen that all efforts are being made to have BiH’s part of work completed in time for Croatia’s accession.
