“This is the EU” public information video-clips start today


A new series of video-clips explaining key facts about the European Union will be on TV screens in Bosnia and Herzegovina from today until 30 June 2013. The series, “This is EU” (Ovo jE Unija), will be shown in the programme of the three public broadcasters in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The country’s Public Broadcasting System, the Office of the European Union Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the contractor, MITA Group, produced the series.

Commenting on the initiative, the Head of the Delegation of the EU to BiH and EU Special Representative in BiH, Ambassador Peter Sorensen, stressed the importance of citizens having access to the key facts about European integration.

“Most of all, the EU is about its people. All reforms and all EU actions, even though they may appear distant at first, are designed to improve lives of citizens. Viewers should know what changes are needed and how they and their fellow citizens can benefit from them.”

RTV BiH’s Head of International Department, Lejla A. Babovic, said that public broadcasters exist to do a job like this one:

“Our role is to inform citizens on what is to be expected in the coming years when it comes to BiH’s path towards the EU.”

RTV FBiH Director General, Dzemal Sabic, added: 
“This is an excellent opportunity to answer daily demands of FTV viewers about the EU and BiH European perspective. This project will provide our viewers with everything which is of their interest when it comes to the EU.”

“Radio Television of Republika Srpska support public information campaign about EU integration process of Bosnia and Herzegovina and give full support by broadcasting the educational televised clips which our viewers will be able to see on daily basis within our programme”, RTRS Director General, Dragan Davidovic, stated.

Radio-Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Radio-Television of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Radio-Television of the Republika Srpska partnered with the EUSR Office in developing 25 episodes, lasting 30 seconds each, divided in five series. The first series starting today will cover the history of the European Union. The second series will cover relations between the EU and BiH. The final three series will answer questions about EU institutions, EU policies in different areas and required reforms.
