Deputy Head of EU Delegation Daviddi meets Sejdic and Finci

The Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr Renzo Daviddi, met today with Mr. Dervo Sejdic and Mr. Jakob Finci and briefed them on the progress of the talks related to implementation of the European Court of Human Rights judgement.

The Delegation of the EU/EUSR is engaged in facilitation activities to assist political process which should address discrimination in the election of the BiH Presidency members. “In view of the next meeting of the EU-BiH High Level Dialogue on the Accession Process on 11 April, leaders of seven political parties had constructive discussion in Brussels last week. They showed a clear commitment towards reaching a political agreement on the implementation of the Sejdic-Finci judgement”, Daviddi said in a meeting held in the EU House in Sarajevo.

Deputy Head of the EU Delegation explained that much of the discussion centred on a model of direct “symmetric” election which takes into consideration the specific constitutional features of BiH. “Nonetheless, much detail remains to be defined and political leaders should continue work in BiH with the aim to present political agreement on 11 April”, Daviddi concluded.
