Sarajevo’s new routes for history and culture explorers

Any visitor interested in exploring Sarajevo in-depth will be able to do so by taking one of the three newly created cultural-historical routes – “Coexist”, “Time travelling” and “Art and Architecture” – that tell the story of the city in a new and imaginative way. The routes have been created through the project “Sarajevo, a Cultural Crossroads” and successful finalization of the projects has been presented in the Bosniak Institute -Foundation Adil Zulfikarpasic. During the 32 month-long period, the project has enriched the tourism offer of Sarajevo, resulting in more attractive and modernized galleries, museums and cultural institutions.
“This project has not only economic potential, but also a potential to increase the possibility for people from different countries and different cultures to get together and discuss all issues devoted to cultural heritage.  It is now important to build a foundation for the sustainability of the project” said Martin Schieder, Head of  the  Section for Economic Development, Natural Resources and Infrastructures in the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Every year, the City of Sarajevo as one of the leading tourist destinations in the region intends to introduce and implement new projects. We emphasize that this project will contribute Sarajevo becoming an even more interesting tourist destination”, said Sahrudin Sarajcic, Deputy Mayor of the City of Sarajevo.
The European Union has funded this project with 300,000 EUR from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA 2009), and it was implemented by Mozaik Foundation, while other part was funded by the City of Sarajevo, the Ministry of Culture and Sport of Canton Sarajevo and FBIH Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
