EU Reportages: BiH economy needs a functional economic space

The Bosnia and Herzegovina Law on the Control of Quality of Certain Products at Import and Export, adopted in 2003, has not been implemented yet as there has been no political agreement at the state level on the list of products that are to be checked.

The FBiH Law on Control of Imported Goods is not in compliance with the BiH law, the RS applies regulations from the former Yugoslavia while the Brcko District does not carry out any special controls on imported goods and its legislation is also not in compliance with the WTO/TBT and the EU rules.

Consequently, the quality control (inspection) system is significantly fragmented due to the absence of uniform rules on those products that are to be checked.

A BHRT reportage explores the complexity of the problem related to the functioning of the inspection system in the country and the need for a single economic space in BiH.
