Europe Week Euro Basket Tournaments in BiH completed in Banja Luka

Following the basketball tournaments in Mostar and Tuzla, the EU Delegation’s Europe Week activities continued with the final instalment of the “Euro Basket Cup” in Banja Luka. The tournament was organised by the EU Info Centre.

The Head of the EU Delegation Office in Banja Luka, Giulio Zanni, together with the Mayor of Banja Luka’s Adviser for Social Affairs, Ljiljana Radovanovic, opened the tournament.

“The European Union particularly helps to improve lives of our young people by creating better conditions for their education and development in different fields including art, culture and sport activities“, Giulio Zanni said, adding that some of these programmes such as ERASMUS are open citizens of BiH to take part.

Girls and boys from Banja Luka elementary schools competed on Krajina Square. In the boys’ competition Elementary School Branko Radičević finished first, Elementary School Borisav Stanković came second and Elementary School Branko Ćopić was third. In the girls’ competition the best team was Elementary School Zmaj Jova Jovanović.

While the basketball tournaments finished with the event in Banja Luka, Europe Day activities continue. On Europe Day, 9 May, in Sarajevo the EU Delegation and EU Info Centre are organising a musical play for children and adults “Top of the World”. Head of the EU Delegation to BiH Ambassador Peter Sorensen will join more than 300 children from ten elementary schools and organisations from Sarajevo and East Sarajevo to see the musical.
