Commissioner Georgieva sees impact of floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina

During her visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the EU’s Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, Kristalina Georgieva, travelled around the country to see the impact of the recent floods at first hand.

On Wednesday 21 May she took a flight over some of the worst affected areas with EUFOR.  In the northern town of Orasje she visited the Civil Protection Co-ordination Centre, saw water pumping work under way and met evacuated families temporarily accommodated in the local high school.  While in Orasje she met rescue workers from EU Member States including Belgium, Austria and Germany. On return to Sarajevo, she visited the Emergency Co-ordination Centre of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Ministry of Security to thank the officials working there.
