High Representative and EU Special Representative Valentin Inzko warmely welcomed today’s announcement by EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Catherine Ashton that Peter Sørenesen has been chosen as the new Head of the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“I indeed look forward to working closely with Mr. Sorensen,” said HR/EUSR Inzko. Noting Mr. Sørensen’s extensive experience in foreign and security affairs and his long and positive involvement in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Balkans, HR/EUSR Inzko said Peter Sørensen “is very much prepared for the challenging and rewarding work that lies ahead”.

Valentin Inzko pointed out that the upcoming reinforcement of the EU presence in Bosnia and Herzegovina can help deliver more focused efforts on BiH’s progress towards EU integration. The international community’s continued attention to Bosnia and Herzegovina is the means to reach the one objective we all want to achieve: to see a country that is able to solve its problems institutionally and that is – with full ownership of its responsibilities- headed towards European integration. 

“I welcome the prospect of a single EU representation. Europe will in the future speak with one voice in BiH and I am confident that the OHR and the EU will continue to work hand in hand to assist BiH on its way towards Euro-Atlantic integration.”
